San Francisco and San Francisco to Denver
Aerial Landscape taken in Flight!
This past February, Graham Images was hired by Boldt to travel to California for a week-long shoot. On the trip back, I was lucky enough to land myself in a window seat with a great view and a camera on board.
My original plan was to take some photos at takeoff and landing, but once we were up in the air, some incredible landscapes were showing off that needed to be photographed.
Straight from the camera, these photos looked really flat. I had no idea that they were going to turn out as good as they did until I was able to bring them into Lightroom and find the right settings. Overall, my process to edit these images was not much different than my normal process, with the main difference being my use of the Dehaze feature.
A few tips from anyone or any photographer with air travel in the future, check out a recent blog I was featured in by PetaPixel, How to Capture Great Aerial Landscape Photos on Your Next Flight.
There was definitely a healthy mix of thoughtful planning, good compositions and a bit of luck and Lightroom magic to make these photos happen - but 100% a fun time to pass time on your next flight!
Word from me to you - if you find yourself in a window seat during a flight take the photos, play around with compositions and post-production to see what kind of fun art you can create!
