10 Stunning Drone Images
The use of drones in the photography industry has grown immensely over the past few years. Advancements in drone technology have allowed photographers, like myself, to capture subjects from angles and perspectives that a “traditional”, hand held camera just cannot achieve. However, just as in traditional photography, it’s not as simple as “point and shoot.”
Architectural Photography and Drones
One of the main purposes of architectural photography is creating digital content and marketing materials. I approach a photo shoot with my drone much the same as I do when using my handheld camera. I focus on perspective and how to best capture the images that fit the client’s needs. Let’s juxtapose two images for an example:
First, we have a bird’s eye view of Ascension St Joseph Hospital Milwaukee. Ascension Medical wanted that bird’s eye view of the entire hospital campus to use in a marketing campaign. In order to achieve this image I spent quite a bit of time on planning (weather is always a factor when using a drone) and in the editing process. Second, we have a view of an active construction site where Miron Construction is doing a crane lift at Land O Lakes factory in Kiel, WI. I was asked to document a very tricky lift using a specialized crane that Miron had brought in specifically for this job. I had to work closely with Miron’s team on their timeline for the lift in order to achieve the footage required (I only had one take to get it right). City-scapes, Sunsets, Clouds...Nothing Captures Them Like a Drone
If you would have told me years ago when I snapped my first photo that I would one day be able to take bird’s eye view photos while standing on the ground I would’ve told you you’re nuts. Mastering drone photography has allowed me to grow artistically and professionally in ways I never dreamt possible. I hope you enjoy these images from my work throughout Wisconsin and Texas.
