Behind the Shoot: Alliance Laundry Systems
Utilizing photos to convey company culture.
Alliance Laundry Systems is the world leader in commercial laundry that has been operating out of Ripon, Wisconsin since 1908. Their Communications Manager, Margaret reached out to me this past summer to capture updated photos of their team at work and for the opportunity for their staff to get updated headshots.
On the day of our shoot, I arrived at 10:00 AM ready to start the day. After introductions and a quick brief we began a tour of their office. Here I was able to capture employees on the job at their work spaces. The natural light from the skylights in this section really made their images stellar!
Our tour of the space ended at a team meeting that was actually a pre-meeting for a big conversation with their top executives. I acted as simply a fly on the wall during this portion of the shoot as the goal is to capture employees authentically in their work setting.
After capturing our ‘people at work’ photos, I was able to sit in and photographed pre-meeting discussions with some of Alliance’s top executives.
The last stop on our shoot was the employee headshots. The company had offered up the opportunity for any employees at the office to participate in getting an updated headshot. I was able to set up my gear and lighting in a well-lit, easy accessible location for their staff to take the photos. Over the course of the next two hours I photographed over 4o individuals headshots! Each person approached the set up for their images a tad differently and I love the way it makes each personality show.
