Fall Colors and Family Fun Wisconsin

It’s officially “Sweater Weather” in Northeast Wisconsin and that means it’s time to get outside before the snows blow in. As much as we hate to admit it, we all know those subzero temperatures and snow storms are right around the corner. So, I hope you, your friends and family were able to get out there for pick your own apples, trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving and corn field mazes!

Let’s take a little trip down memory lane. October at Graham Images was a month of diverse subjects. It spanned every subject from head-shots to senior portraits and architectural photography to events. It was a month that was as spectacular as the fall colors we love enjoying. I hope you enjoy my favorite pieces from a wonderful month that was.

Trick-or-Treating at Festival Foods?

I’m breaking one of my personal rules with this segment. But I’m a dad and I had to share this amazing moment with my daughter. I took my daughter to Festival Foods’ Boofest (we both got treats! She got bags of candy and I got bags of groceries. The main difference in that I had to pay for mine...) Festival Foods does a great job in creating a fun and safe environment for kids of all ages to enjoy the spirit of Halloween. For me it was great being able to capture her joy and enthusiasm without having to worry about cars, weather and carrying her home when her legs got tired.

What Are Good Senior Portraits?

Senior portraits are synonymous with high school. They capture a person’s growth into adulthood and usually mark the transition into college. A good senior portrait goes beyond touch-ups and making someone look good. It should capture their personality in a way that goes beyond props and clothing. This session made my “Best of” because Sierra made these photographs happen as she became comfortable and allowed herself to shine through.

Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra’s Guest Conductor Series

I’ve had the privilege of documenting Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra events for a number of years. As a supporter of the FVSO it has been even more engaging recently as they undergo a search for a new conductor. During this season the FVSO has invited four guest conductors to lead performances as part of the process of finding a new conductor. This month the extremely gifted, Howard Hsu, was the guest conductor. The guest soloist for the evening's performance was Kelly Hall-Tompkins.

Ascension Medical Milwaukee Brand Celebration

I spent three days in Milwaukee documenting Ascension’s Brand Celebration event at 7 of their hospitals in the greater Milwaukee area. CEO Tony Tersigni was present for day two and gave a speech at two of the hospitals.

"The Branded Environment" with Jeremy Pelly

Jeremy Pelly, co-founder of OMFGCO (a branding agency that has worked with several marijuana companies among other business) was at an event hosted by the Fox River Ad Club - Let’s Taco Bout It. It was a day that was extremely insightful as Jeremy brought a distinctive youthful and forward-thinking approach to marketing and branding.

Architectural Photography in Northeast Wisconsin

I had attempted this photo of ThedaCare’s Regional Cancer Center in Appleton a few times before capturing this particular shot. I knew I wanted to shoot this particular angle, but during other times of the day the building lacked energy and personality. I decided to attempt the photo during a very precise time of day. I took this photo about 20 minutes after sunset, just enough to let the sky be a dark blue but still leave some ambient sunlight on the building. The balance of warm and cool tones is perfect.
